SHANTY AND SEA SONG NIGHT FOR THE RNLI
SHANTY AND SEA SONG NIGHT FOR THE RNLI

Time & Location

23 Feb 2024, 19:00

The Ivy House, 40 Stuart Rd, London SE15 3BE, UK

About the event

All proceeds from this Shanty and Sea Song Night will be donated to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

We welcome back to the Goose tonight  The HogEye Men, fantastic shanty singers, who will be doing two sets of shanties.

The HogEye Men have been singing together for many years and are one of London's finest  (possibly THE finest!) Sea Shanty Crews, with a huge and varied repertoire.  They also sing songs about the sea, with occasional harmonies, in authentic and entertaining style.

They have recently been appointed as a resident shanty crew on board The Cutty Sark clipper, in Greenwich, London.

There will also be songs from local singers Chris Lamb, Creeping Jane, John Haseler and  local group Shotley Crue.

We hope for lots of audience participation! No pressure!

There will also be a raffle,  with prizes donated by kind Goose people - all proceeds from the raffle will also be donated to the RNLI.

There will be the opportunity to make additional donations, either with your ticket or on the night (see below) and WeGotTickets are donating 20% of their booking fee to the RNLI as well.

ABOUT THE RNLI

The RNLI is a voluntary lifesaving rescue service, and for nearly 200 years its crews have been rescuing anyone in trouble at sea, without judgement or preference.  Its crews are tasked in the UK by HM Coastguard to assist anyone who is in trouble on or in the water, and will launch to help them – no matter who they are or where they come from.

RNLI crews in South East England are engaged in a significant level of work in the Channel as a result of more men, women and children crossing one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes in small, overcrowded and unseaworthy boats.  These crews  have responded in extremely demanding search and rescue environments with continued dedication and commitment. Saving lives at sea remains their core purpose.

The Goose Is Out! strongly supports the work of the RNLI, including their work with people in small boats in trouble on the Channel.

We have kept the ticket price for this charity gig relatively low, as we don’t want to exclude anybody who might otherwise not be able to come.  If you can afford it, please consider making an additional donation, either with your advance ticket (We will not be able to see individual donations on the ticket list -  WeGotTickets will just tell us the total amount raised in this way), or in the collecting box  at the ticket table on the night.
